The Sketching Room

The Sketching Room

From Melbourne Australia…

Peter Carr was born playing the drums and quickly expanded his musical skills by teaching himself guitar and keys.

While bashing the skins for the Melbourne band, Fools and Angels, Pete decided to stray from his kit. He strapped on an acoustic guitar and a keyboard and started banging heads with Fools and Angels bassist and lead vocalist (and also his brother in law), Byron Coleman.

After discovering that what they were making was called “music” they decided to give their “music” a name. And so was born “The Sketching Room”.

The duo are influenced by artists such as Ben Folds, Dashboard Confessional, Death Cab For Cutie and The Beatles, just to name a few.

The Sketching Room’s tunes can be described as simple, emotive songs based on catchy melodies.

Great Memory

Liquid Sound StudiosOver the past 3 years we have built some great memories and I will share some of them with you over the next few weeks.

In this pic Chainsaw is in Liquid Sound Studios in New Albany, IN with Doc Smith of Wisesmith Management, the manager of the great band Chamberflow. Chamberflow cut an acoustic track specifically for Acoustic Alternative that hit the top 20 on the station for 9 weeks in a row with 6 of those weeks at #1.

Now, that’s a great memory.

Leading The Blind

Rising Star March 1, 2010

Leading The BlindEvolving from previous projects, BLIND started playing as a group in the mid-90’s after the previous project The Crocodile Nasty’s which included both Marty and Jim tragically ended with a death of a member.

Marty and Jim added a new drummer and began an 8 year stretch of countless shows and a debut CD in 1999. Work was nearly complete on the followup album when they disbanded in 2001.

Seven years later, Marty and Jim, still playing together in a local cover band “A-Town Unplugged” for the love of music, occasionally performing a requested Blind song or two were asked repeatedly by fans to play a rock show again with the Blind catalog of songs as a setlist.

Since they had Pat from A-town on drums that knew many of the songs, and was available, they worked on putting a new twist on the old lineup including working on some new songs and retooling some of the unfinished 2001 material.

This new incarnation, now called LEADING THE BLIND, has all that the fans loved from the past but benefits from years of various projects that each member has participated in since 2001.

The new songs that have been played live since reforming has increased the hopes that a new album will not be far off!
