The Sketching Room

From Melbourne Australia…

Peter Carr was born playing the drums and quickly expanded his musical skills by teaching himself guitar and keys.

While bashing the skins for the Melbourne band, Fools and Angels, Pete decided to stray from his kit. He strapped on an acoustic guitar and a keyboard and started banging heads with Fools and Angels bassist and lead vocalist (and also his brother in law), Byron Coleman.

After discovering that what they were making was called “music” they decided to give their “music” a name. And so was born “The Sketching Room”.

The duo are influenced by artists such as Ben Folds, Dashboard Confessional, Death Cab For Cutie and The Beatles, just to name a few.

The Sketching Room’s tunes can be described as simple, emotive songs based on catchy melodies.

Left Standing

Left Standing BandThis Las Vegas original rock act is assembled by determination, motivation, and the love of music. Driven by different influences, Left Standing transforms into one energy on stage. The band consists of 5 members, Danny Pino (lead vocals), Chris Pino (bass, vocals), Beau Stewart (guitar, vocals), Jesse Pino (guitar, vocals), Zak Weidle (drums).

Left Standing serves up a welcome dose of rock & roll. The performance and sound production of the guitars, bass and drums are first-rate and create vibrant and memorable rock rhythms.. They are a group that knows no boundaries and whose apparent mission is to entertain their audience. This act puts their mark on several different styles, making each their own. Definably a rock act, they also venture into pop, alternative, punk and even a little blues. However, what’s most impressive is that there strong in every style and give their all on every song.

“We set out to make music we enjoy and can feel proud of playing — music that we like and want to listen to. As soon as you start thinking beyond that —about wanting to keep up with the Joneses or about fitting in with somebody else’s format — that’s when you lose the map. So we’ve just done what we do, and tried to have fun doing it.”

Left Standing is endlessly new and unique as time goes by. Always delivering for the fans, show after show. They are one of the few groups whose versatility does not hurt them. Indeed, it makes them a phenomenon and a must see act.

Brian Vander Ark

Posted by Shout Radio Services on 27th February 2010 in Rising Stars

Brian Vander ArkMassive success and its aftermath have sent many artists into oblivion, forever trying to recapture the moment when the world first bowed at their feet. That moment came for Brian Vander Ark when, as the lead singer and principal songwriter for The Verve Pipe, he sold more than 3 million albums worldwide and produced a string of hit singles, including the #1 song ‘The Freshmen.’

More than just the frontman, Vander Ark was its literal and figurative voice, providing the creative spark and writing songs that gave the band its devoted following. Although the songs were cast in the style of the era, they remain singular and special. His gift is one of tremendous storytelling clarity expressed through melodies and rhythms that are unique, riveting, intensely personal and entirely gripping.

Rather than blindly attempt to reclaim a throne that was fleeting at best, the Michigan native struck out on his own, sold all his possessions, hit the road and released his acclaimed debut solo CD, Resurrection, in 2005. This inspired collection of original songs recalls an era when artists were not afraid to express their hearts direction and soul’s design. Vander Ark continues that commitment with the release of his latest solo CD, Angel, Put Your Face On. Both earnest and reflective, this music once again takes an intimate look at life while exploring themes of family, love and loss.

His journey has resulted in a lyrical, engrossing collection of songs wrought from an experience that many have dreamed of but few have faced. On the way, Brian rediscovered his love for performing and now revels in a freedom that few can claim as he travels the road playing his songs and connecting with audiences.

Sean Reyes

Posted by Shout Radio Services on 27th February 2010 in Rising Stars

Sean ReyesSean Reyes is a singer/songwriter from Oakville, Ontario. Hailing from a family of musicians, he was brought into this at the age of 10 years old, when his dad gave him a microphone and said “Sing this harmony for me!” Since then, he has been singing his heart out. He was an integral part of the St. Christopher’s Church Choir, where he brought life and style to the church. Acoustic Alternative Radio has played two of Sean’s songs on their station. “Wasted Breath” was played in July 2009 and was in their top 10 songs for 3 consecutive weeks. His song “All I Ever Need” was played in early January 2010 and Sean was featured as the first ever Monday’s Rising Star. “All I Ever Need” was officially named the number 1 song for the week of 1/24/10, amongst some very well known and famous bands. “Wasted Breath” shot back up the charts and was the number 1 song for the week of 1/31/10 and 2/7/10. Both these songs, as well as “Hold On Tonight” were featured in the promotional album that Acoustic Alternative Radio released in February 2010 titled “The Raw Side – Volume 1″. Writing music and performing is something that Sean loves to share with people and only hopes to do so for years to come.

Chris Sicard

Chris Sicard

Born in California and raised in Washington, I’m a small town boy with big city dreams. My music is a constant look into and through my life and battles with relationships and family. While I’m engraved with a sense of familiarty that can only come from living in a little town, I still strive to stand out in an over-saturated Metropolis. The city of Seattle is fantastic, but I feel like there is something pulling me in different directions. Which is where my friends come in, they help anchor me and keep me focused, whether they realize it or not.

I’ve played at many venues throughout Washington state, as well as touring throughout the U.S. traveling from Hawaii to California to New York. I’ve released 5 albums without being signed on a indie or major label and I still have 3 more CD’s in the works

I’ve had the pleasure of performing with my hometown friends in the band State of Silence for several years, and now I proudly sing and play guitar with three very talented friends of mine in The Vain Transparent. I’ve also had the pleasure of recording and playing shows with numerous friends and musicians. If not for the collaberation and creativity from these people I would not be playing music still today.

No matter where I roam or whatever path I decide to take in life, my music will be a part of me and I hope that you’ll enjoy what I put out.
